Anjali Purohit Founder of Variously was chosen as the Artist in Residence at Eileen Fisher, Troy , Michigan store in 2018, on the basis of her experience in sustainable design and artisanal supply chain. This also involved hosting pop ups at the store, enabling education about sustainable design to their customers and showcasing documentary Resa Thread to their audience.
Variously + Of A Kind
Variously collaborated with OF A KIND to custom design and produce a limited edition of handloom merino throw and linen scarves. These beautiful sustainable textile pieces were hand-woven by artisans in Nepal. Eco friendly dyes were used to ensure longevity of the natural yarns.
Fashion Revolution Week / Detroit
Fashion Revolution in Detroit On 24 April 2013, the Rana Plaza building in Bangladesh collapsed. 1,138 people died and another 2,500 were injured, making it the fourth largest industrial disaster in history.That’s when Fashion Revolution was born. In 2019 Anjali Purohit, the founder of Variously curated and collaborated with local businesses and designers to put together 7 events ranging from open studios, trunk show, workshops and panel discussion. Variously was part of a beautiful trunk show at Orleans & Winder , a Detroit based purveyor of high + slow fashion & art with other local sustainable design labels. Anjali was also moderator for panel discussion at Eileen Fisher Store in Troy,Michigan The panel discussion focussed on enabling sustainable production practices, ethical working conditions of women artisans and exploring tools of educating consumer more about responsible fashion.
In 2018 for the first time in Detroit, Studio Variously kept an open house to learn more about Fashion Revolution by conducting a visual presentation combined with short documentary, short dialogue & pop up by Variously as a part of honoring Fashion Revolution Week.Why sustainability & transparency in conventional fashion industry matters more than ever, why is there a need for access to quality over excess of quantity in fashion retail, and how Variously as an emerging brand is collaborating internationally to create a meaningful supply chain one textile at a time was the main focus of the event held at Wework in Campus Martius / Detroit .
Anjali also volunteers for Fashion Revolution to enable local engagement in Detroit area.
